Living Classroom Docents are invited to attend the following events:
Environmental Volunteers EcoCenter Visit - Mon. 3/3
Ever wonder what became of that old Sea Scout building at the Palo Alto Baylands? Well, it's now the home of the Environmental Volunteers, the organization from which Living Classroom founder, Vicki Moore, drew her inspiration for our program. Learn about the "green" features of this historic building, get a glimpse of some of the plant-related learning stations that the "EV" use in their school programs, and learn about native bayland plants. Time: 10-Noon. Optional - bring a bag lunch to enjoy at the baylands after visiting the EcoCenter (weather permitting). Carpools to this event will leave Covington School at 9:30am. Please RSVP to Caroline by Wednesday 2/26 if you would like to attend and indicate if you will be carpooling with us or meeting us at the EcoCenter.
Succulent Workshop - Friday, April 25, 10-11am
Living Classroom will offer an introduction to succulents with a hands-on activity making a mini garden. Come learn about a few succulent varieties and take home a cute drought tolerant planter. The workshop will be led by Living Classroom docent and Master Gardener Betsy Colby. Location: LASD Conference Room #2. Please RSVP to Caroline if you plan to attend.
Filoli Field Trip - Thursday, May 1, 10:30-12:30
Join us for a tour of both the house and gardens at Filoli, a beautiful historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and one of the finest remaining country estates of the early 20th century. The two hour tour costs $15 per person which can be given to Maureen Lane on the day of the event. Those who wish to stay for lunch may purchase it separately at the cafe. There's also an amazing gift shop with unique items to browse. We will meet at Covington School to carpool at 9:30am. We will be paying for everyone in advance so please respond with a firm RSVP to Caroline no later than Friday, April 18th.
